Yes. I'm changing hosts again. This time it's back to blogspot. I find it easier to manoeuvre while using blogspot. Besides LJ doens't allow third party hosts. So yeah, bloggers out there, please make the necessary changes if you have linked me. Sorry for the mafan-ness caused. Here's the new URL : http://aliciayanlyn.blogspot.com/

For now, the latter blog will be under 'construction'. So yeah, will be updating my hanoi trip much later.

Chinese New Year was a blast with all the lion dances, fire crackers, gambling(ahem), mandarin oranges and of course red packets, which I got a fair amount this year. Heh.

Who said anything about recession? People are increasing the amount of money they are giving! Contrary to what I got previous years, I received more RM5 notes this year. Hah! Economic down turn my butt!

Ah, what's CNY without house hopping? So a bunch of relatives came over to my house. All of us were basically catching up with each other, basically poking our noses into each other's lives lar.

This particular bunch of relatives came in this afternoon actually and we talked non stop, for like 3 hours?

Yeah, I was amazed at how our topics evolved from what me and the cousins are doing with our lives, to my trip to Melbourne, to remembering the good old days, to where they used to live when they were my age etc etc.

And that's when the secrets of my family tree slowly revealed. Haha brace yourselves as I, too had a shock when I heard these funnily true stories.

FIRSTLY, it turns out that my grandmother isn't a Hokkien at all. She's a HAKKA for Pete's sake! She told me umpteen years ago that she was a hokkien and I believed so ever since. So yeah, I was fooled for more than 20 years! You see, her mother's a Hokkien and her father's a Hakka. So by right, she's a Hakka. But God knows why she told me she's Hokkien. Alrightey, secret number 1 revealed.

SECONDLY, someone once told me that my great grandfather was born in CHINA and only came to Malaysia when he was a kid. Wrong again! The fact is, he was born in KAMUNTING, Perak! One of my relatives still has his birth cert or some other documents to prove that. Okay. I was once again fooled for more than 20 years. Secret number 2 revealed.

Brace yourselves for this third and last one. I bet you will laugh your ass out when you read this.

LASTLY, my grandmother's great great grandmother (GGGGM) was a JAPANESE! *cue - thunder* Hahahahahaha. Frickin' Japanese! How cool is that! Do you know what this means? It means that I have Japanese blood lar you dummy! Hahahaha. Okay okay, maybe a few percent. Alright fine. 1 percent. It seems that grandmother's great great grandfather (GGGGF) served the British during its occupation and was about to sentenced to death during the Japanese Invasion. That's when GGGGM came to the rescue. She claims that GGGGF is a family friend and so he was let free. The rest they say is history. Fuh! Damn cool right. This relative also has documents to prove alright. Secret number 3 revealed.

Now how about that?! That three certainly gave me a shock! Now, come to think of it, the third one doesn't seem so purposterous after all. When my brother was still a kid, EVERYONE said that he looks like a Japanese boy! Maybe that's because of his droopy eyelids. Some even went to the extent of saying that my parents must have taken the wrong infant home from the hospital. Hahahaha.

So go figure.

So I got my final year project title. Intelligent pedometer. If you don't know what it is, google it okay. Tired of explaining it to everyone who asked.

Bittersweet. Yeah, that's how I felt when I first got the title. Bitter being what am I going to do. Sweet being yeah, it's one of my selected titles. So what? I'm at a lost at what to do. Gah! Save me!

I went to see my project supervisor. She's a Burmese and I can't even pronounce her name properly. Mar Mar Lwin. -_-

I bombarded her with tonnes of neverending questions and half the time, I couldn't decipher what on earth was she blabbing about.

But putting all the pieces together, I managed to guess what she was trying to say lar sigh.

"Erm, so Miss, do you think, overall, this project is actually feasible?"

Nods and smiles lightly  "Actually, to be honest, this is quite a difficult project. But don't worry, you can do it."

Imaginary hand smacks forehead.

Holy crap! What was I thinking?! That little bit of confidence left was all shattered after that.

I seriously need to think this over pffftttt...

Right then. Gotta run.

Mr Hello's class. I swear I'm going to count how many Hellos he's gonna say later. =D

First three days of class. Almost every class ended an hour and a half earlier so yay. Time. Table. Fully. Packed. And can you believe it. My Friday time table sucks. No class for the whole day except for 4 to 6pm! What a waste of time! And I'm supposed to go back to KL every Friday pfffffttttt. I guess I gotta protest, throw tantrums, cry a lot, sit on the floor and thump my limbs on the ground or even roll around until the lecturer is willing to change it to another time wtf. LOL Maybe just protest lar. I'm not so extreme.

My lecturers this time are the funniest lot. One of them takes the gold home. Funny old Chinese guy with almost balding head LOL. He has quite a funny accent but I can't really tell from where. Maybe he got it from all the countries he was in. Told us that he is a permanent resident in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and the United States. Don't know how true is it. Anyways, he ALWAYS end his lines with 'Hello?' wtf. So imagine after every line, he says Hello? OMG, I couldn't stop laughing. And when he says it, his eyes are opened so big that I think if it wasn't for his specs, they would have definitely dropped out! How in the name of Merlin's beard am I gonna go for his class?! And I'll be seeing him for 2 subjects! Sweet Jesus! Somebody tell me how to control my fits of laughter.

Hell yeah and apart from that, I have a big ass due date coming up on Friday and here I am sitting here typing away while watching the last bits of PS I Love You and also reinstalling some softwares for my newly formatted computer. Yeah, multi tasking rocks my socks like that. You have a problem with that? The dumbass internship report and the slides. I've done the log book which carries NO marks at all. I don't even know why I even bother doing the slides and report now. Not that they will grade me or anything. Just a pass or fail and that won't even be included in my transcript. Oh yeah, if I don't do it, they will threaten me by not letting me graduate and wear that stupid square black hat and throw on that black piece of curtain. So yay, hurray to more unnecessary work. Is this how education institutions work by making their students live a miserable life while studying? I thought student life are always a bliss, of course minus the part where each and everyone of us study at the very last minute for finals lar. Pffttt. Irony.

So on to no brainer number three. This guy is just a perverted bastard. Either that, or he's a sicko. We were all in a tram and once again, the three of us were seated facing each other in, Me and Sui Li on one side, Sui Hui and Mr Pervert on the other side with Mr Pervert directly opposite me. This time we weren't talking at all.

Mr Pervert is an Indian guy with dark curly hair. Think Justin Timberlake during his N*Sync days. To add to the perverted look, he has beer belly! Total yuck!

So right, I was just admiring the scenery outside until at some point I felt uneasy. I felt like someone was watching me. I turned around to see that Mr Pervert here was smiling at the both of us pervertly. Every smile he made, he did it with a slight nod with his head.

I turned around to see if he was smiling to other people behind me, but no, everyone was hidden behind their novels or newspaper! That pervert just kept alternating between me and Sui Li. I was like WTF! What's so funny??

And to make things worse, he wore his sunglasses after that and then he smiled some more! Maybe he thought that I wouldn't know that he was looking at us when he wears his perverted sunnies. WTF. And no, he wasn't listening to his iPod or anything.

I couldn't stand it much longer and then I decided to switch places. Yuck!

#19  Quack quack??

#20

Ok. On to no brainer number 2. This time, it was a girl. Aged 8 or so. I might be wrong. She can be younger. Australians are almost all big sized. And oh yeah, which reminds me, if you always complain that you are too fat / big / whatever similar, go to Australia. you will be labeled as small, or even tiny. School girls over there look like giants when I stand next to them. And if you already forgot, I'm a final year uni student already!

If you are always complaining that you have no boobs / small chest / whatever, DON'T go to Australia. Yours, will then be called cherries only. What if you consider your assets to be fairly big and are proud of them? Go to Australia and you will be disappointed. What you have might just very well be average sized, or even categorized as small. Haha.

So back to no brainer. We were in a train once again and this kid sat right opposite us (again). It was still during the day but I think this kid was about to go to a rock concert or something. She had some barbie tattoo on her cheek, cheerleader-like hair tied up way up high with a few multi colored ribbons, a t-shirt, a skirt, some colorful leggings and some old ah lian looking boots.

This kid IS really the most annoying kid I ever met! She follows everything you say! WTF!! Even when me and Sui Li were talking in Cantonese, she tried to follow! And our facial expressions? Yeap, ditto above! WTFWTF! If it wasn't wrong to slap anyone in public, trust me I'll slap the bitch outta her! That's for mimicking us you confused looking barbie doll!!

Hmmph!

#18  The closest I can get. That peacock scares the shit outta me every time I try to get closer.

#19  Gorilla and its poo! Muahaha... And also bird poo on its back!

Ok. I met some of the meanest humans during this trip. Well, three to be exact. I'll talk about each no brainer per post, or else it'll all be pictures post. I'm running out of things to write so I might as well just write about this shit.

The first incident happened in a train. Well, all three happened in public transports actually. The main character here is an old lady. Donned in sweat pants, an old washed out jeans jacket and a very loose baseball cap, old wrinkly face here sat in the middle seat of three in a row, with loads of groceries on the seat on her right. There were six seats facing each other alright.

So, the three of us boarded the train. Me and Sui Hui sat opposite her. Sui Li sat right beside her. We were minding our own business, having little conversations every now and then while old wrinkly face reads her newspaper.

Me and Sui Li talked the most. I don't remember what we were talking about but it definitely made us both laughed. And that's when old wrinkly face started to throw stares at the both of us. She decided that it was a good thing to lower her glasses to the tip of her nose, tilt her head slightly downwards and then stare at the both of us. WTF. How annoying!

She practically stared at us for like fifteen minutes or so. I gave her so many StareAtMeAgainAndImGonnaSlapYou looks but it didn't work. Just mind your own business lady! hmmph!

Hello! As most of you already know, I'm in Melbourne now. Not staying in my friend's hostel anymore. We've moved to an apartment in the city. Everything's great here. Been braving the cold the past few days though. Melbourne's weather can change with just a snap of your finger. Yes, easy peasy like that.

Guess what, I think I'm going to blog about this trip only when I get back to KL. There's something wrong with my photobucket and I can only fix it in thecomfort of my own room and using my own laptop! Hahah... Yes, I am ma fan like that. So bare with me okay. It's just two weeks from now. Or if you can't wait, go view my facebook. I've uploaded pictures!

1.  If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?

2.  The main reason that Santa is so jolly is because he knows where all the bad girls live.

Is the last day of work!

Finally! The much anticipated day! No more waking up early in the morning. No more cold showers early in the morning. No more driving all the way to Senawang. No more kuli work. And no more payday *yay T-T

After working for what seemed like forever (actually 3 months only lar), I can conclude that :

  1. Some people can be damn fake at times. One minute you're this and the next, you're that. Sigh, I guess humans are very unpredictable creatures.
  2. One's true colors will be revealed if you mingle with them 5 days a week, 9 hours a day. It's like their character have undergone some major disaster or something. They can be so different from the person you see in class everyday -_-
  3. Being an engineer can be fun too! At first, my idea of an engineer is that they are usually in Phua Chu Kang boots, safety helmet and whatnots going in and out construction sites, communicating loudly like they're in the morning markets with the contractors. haha. Now that my idea of an engineer is changed, I can see myself better at becoming an engineer. Hey not the yellow boots engineer okay. The proper ones. And oh ya, R&D sounds fun =]
  4. Being a female in a male dominating field gives you all the advantages you need. Things like carrying stuff, screwing or unscrewing nuts and bolts etc could be left to the guys. We girls just sit back and watch hahaha. Yes, and you'll receive different treatment from guys double hahaha.
  5. Working life sucks. Everything can be so monotonous / bland / dull / yougetthepicture. Enjoy college life while you still can! Speaking of which, I kinda miss INTI a lil.

Ah, that's about it lar.

On another note, I'll be leaving for Melbourne next Tuesday! woootssss

Yes. A Famosa with the classmates during the weekend. Me and KC drove. And it drained the crap outta me. It was such a long journey omg. And now I hate driving even more. And to top that off, we witnessed 3 accidents on the way back to Nilai. We were like "wtf, another accident?" I think the death rates just increased another 10% during that weekend.

So any the ways, the highlights : we started at around 10am and reached the resort slightly before 11. Waited for KC and gang for a bit, actually not abit but quite a bit, haha and then headed for Animal Park. Loitered around till around 5pm then checked in to the condotel. Took shower, rested and blah then drove to Malacca town for satay celup! After which, Jonker street!

Next day, Water World, Jonker and home sweet home. Yes, I know you can tell that I'm rushing this post. That's because my bed's calling me. It's so freaking tempting. But the stubborn me wants to finish this post asap. So yeah, pictures, captions and adios.
